What is... Overcooked
What's better than cooking? Overcooking! You are going
to have fun in this couch co-op game called Overcooked. Released back in 2016
on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this game offers fantastic amount of
fun with your friends and families. It's a game where you play as several chefs
(both humans and cute animals, yeah, they have animal chefs) in order to serve
food while tackling obstacles and battling time. The story revolves around..
erm.. alright never mind that. The game's primary gameplay is on how fast you
can serve the food. Sounds simple, but there is more than it that the game
provides. Teamwork is very much mandatory here.
Overcooked is design with a level based system where players are required to meet a minimum score to earn a star before proceeding to further level. Gaining scores depends on how quick and nimble our brains and fingers can be as each level has its own unique obstacles. Among the obstacles provided, traversal obstacles are the most common challenges the players must face. Positioning and repositioning themselves to get the right ingredients and cook them properly, instead of overcooking them. (Wait isn't that what the game wants us to do? NO.)
Choose between various kinds of chefs that have no unique abilities except difference in appearance. Choose the same character as your partner so you can confuse yourself even further when your kitchen is failing. That is what pro players do.
I personally haven't completed the game but I am
writing this as I want to inform you guys on just how fun this game could be.
If you are bored with singleplayer games, or if you are looking for a game to
play while cuddling with your loved one, this is your best choice. The thing
is, it's a couch co-op game that's like the best offer it can give for all you
crazy gaming love birds out there. You can either play it with shared keyboard
or plug in 2 gamepads (one gamepad can be used for 2 persons, yes that can happen) when you have 4 persons ready to burn the kitchen.
As the game is designed to be played cooperatively, I don't recommend you to play it alone, unless you are up for a challenge, or you're simply lonely oof. Playing solo will have you switching between two characters, you are forced to juggle everything you are required to prepare as the game has no AI to accompany your lonely night. So you're on your own, pal. My point is, this is a family game that is highly fun and enjoyable to be played together. Go socialize you nerd!
Overcooked is the type of game you want to prepare on
your laptop when your friends are coming over to your house for hang outs, it's
a really good method to build friendship, and considering it is a video game,
maybe it's time to change the mindset that "VidEO gAmES CAusE
ViOLeNce". For all moms out there, Overcooked CAN be paused as it only
provides local multiplayer. Overcooked is always family friendlier than
flipping-table-inducing monopoly board game, you can get it really cheap on
Steam too. I hope you guys can understand my message, burn the kitchen but not
your friends.
